Here for this headline
"Much like Spike Lee’s argument against gentrification, these artist don’t respect the history or the culture that is hip hop. The problem with white rappers and white artist who dabble in rap music, is that so often they want to appropriate black culture while simultaneously condemn it. In his song Same Love, Macklemore says “If I was gay, I would think hip-hop hates me.” This perpetuates the stereotype that both hip hop and the black community are inherently more homophobic than the rest of society, even though multiple black hip hop artist like Jay Z and Nicki Minaj have come out in support for their gay fans."

Jesus was a homeless Palestinian anarchist who held protests at oppressive churches, advocated for universal health care and redistribution of wealth, before being arrested for terrorism, tortured and executed for crimes against the state, now go ahead and explain to me why he’d vote conservative. I’ll wait.

Don’t forget we have to wake up Green Day tomorrow.

Ok just a reminder to everyone: If you’re planning on tweeting billie joe armstrong “wake up” or something tomorrow, DON’T. The song is about his father’s death and so it’s really personal and treating it like a joke isn’t the right thing to do. Plus he’s asked so many times for people to stop and no one listens so yeah. Please don’t do that.
